People prefer to watch rather than read

It’s a known fact that having video on websites makes it 53% more likely that your website will show up on the first page of Google search. It’s also a known fact that customers who look at videos of products and services are 85% more likely to make a purchase than those who don’t!

It seems we’re a visual bunch when it comes to understanding something we don’t know anything about. Whether it’s because we’re in a hurry or just lazy is debatable but the majority would rather sit and watch than read through a few paragraphs of text. It’s most probably hardwired into our brains from our prehistoric ancestors that it makes sense to watch something that’s moving rather than something that’s still.

Example of a corporate video for Spirotech Group Ltd

A wealth of information – instantly!

So, that’s one good reason for having a corporate video to introduce your company but what else do we get from video that we don’t get from a paragraph of text? Movement, sound, intonation, atmosphere, character, easier assimilation of complex products… in fact, a wealth of information and memorable brand awareness can be imparted in the time it would take your customer to read about your company.

At its most basic, it just makes sense. But a corporate video gives you even more than that because our good friend Google loves video too and if Google sees that your website includes relevant video it will reward you with a higher ranking.

Corporate video – engage your customer by speaking to them directly

So what are the benefits of including a corporate video on your website?

  1. Engage your customer by speaking to them directly
  2. Introduce key people, services, products
  3. Let people see who’s behind the brand – impart the personality of your business
  4. Highlight the benefits of why your company provides a better service or product than your competitors
  5. Strongly brand your company as a market leader
  6. Remember that people buy from people

On that last point, people generally like to buy from people they know or feel they know and what product or service doesn’t benefit from the personal touch? Even if you’re selling 10p widgets your customer wants to believe in you as a good honest supplier. A live delivery of your company mission statement and values is the very best way to get visitors closer to you and your company.
